Feb 19, 2021: 5th Session of the United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA5)
With 900+ registered attendees, the UNEA5 event brought together corporate and political decision-makers to discuss translating growing interest in net zero & forest investments into concrete, sustainable climate action through the Green Gigaton Challenge.  The conversation kicked off a quantum shift in scale, finance and results for forest solutions.
Nov 19, 2020: London Climate Action Week
The Green Gigaton Challenge was launched at London Climate Action Week 2020. High-level speakers from the public sector, private sector, and civil society discussed the complementary roles of public and private finance in achieving a green gigaton of emission reductions from high integrity jurisdictional REDD+ credits. The webinar also explained the partnership between Emergent and UN-REDD facilitating roles that the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Forest Trends, and the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART) will play in implementing this strategy to scale tropical forest protection and restoration.
