The Green Gigaton Challenge (GGC) is a global effort launched in 2020 to catalyse funds to transact one gigaton of high-quality emissions reductions from forests by 2025 and annually after that as an aspirational goal.

At COP26, the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use committed 137 countries to collectively end forest loss and land degradation by2030. This pledge was followed by material funding commitments from countries and organisations to support conservation and restoration of tropical forests and to support Indigenous communities. Companies and investors also made commitments to reduce forest loss and support a transition to more sustainable supply chains and financial portfolios. [Keep reading]
